Oh my gosh. Considering that Go and Gary are both researchers, it means that THEY are the rivals now. I didn't even think of that.

Also... it's cool seeing both Ash and Gary feeling like they're nearing or at their prime right now. you can just see their experience flowing.

They are not aging but at least they are growing as trainers.

The way Gary used his Blastoise was crazy awesome ... He should've battled Ash in this Episode.

Thank goodness, for a moment I thought, Goh would chuck a baseball at Moltres after Moltres used Burn up. Phew but that did not happen, maybe because even without fire Moltres was a legendary pokemon (yes I am looking at you Suicune).

The way Ash changed his behaviour to talk with Gary/Shigeru as they talked with experience in their speech was so good to see, and give weight to my point earlier that Ash is just going alogn the ride with Goh and is just excited.

Man, such a nostalgic and amazing episode!! It was hella fun to see Gary again, albeit his more improved and mature self than the cocky one he used to be when he started out. I'm just amazed at how much he has grown throughout the seasons😍

The battle animation and ost with Moltres was fire, and it was good to see Blastoise kicking ass as ever!! Those rapid spins were something else👌🔥. And the uplifting music at the end when Ash and Gary shake hands was brilliant, not surprising with Hayashi at the helm xD

Missed opportunity in this episode Mock Trade between Ash’s Boldore and Goh’s Boldore to both become Gigalith. Goh could offer Vibrava which he doesn’t use at all for one of Ash’s Tauros but not the main one.
